Body Part as a Scorpio Ascendant:

As a Scorpio Ascendant, the entire body will associate with everything related to Scorpio.

Doshas: Kapha and Pitta are the Doshas related to the sign of Scorpio.

Caring For The Kapha Dosha In The Body: Kapha represents the ability to be stable and have form and strength. In addition, Kapha is responsible for maintaining moisture levels in the body. The main sites of Kapha in the body are:

The Mind: Kapha protects the mind when balanced and thoughts are clear. When unbalanced, the mind becomes dull and sluggish; in this situation, avoid excessive sleep and find activities that stimulate the mind.

The Mouth and Tongue: Kapha is responsible for creating the correct amount of lubrication in the mouth and throat, allowing the taste buds to perform well. Unbalanced, there can be excessive saliva and mucous.

The Chest, Heart, and Lungs: Keeping the correct lubrication in these areas is crucial to health. Respiratory conditions can create excessive mucous in the lungs. The heart connection is related to attachment and grief. Letting go of things physically and emotionally is helpful.

The Joints: When joints are healthy, we don't really notice them; when unbalanced, they can swell and cause pain with movement.

The Stomach: Balanced Kapha protects from excess acid in the stomach; when unbalanced, there can be excess mucous, nausea, and sluggish digestion.

Caring for Pitta Dosha:

Pitta is the digester of all intake, mentally and physically. The main sites for Pitta in the body are as follows.

The mind: What are you allowing to permeate your mind? Can you easily digest your intake? Is it aggravating the fire or soothing it? Spend time in silence.

The eyes: what images are you looking at? Are they soothing and easy to process, or are they disruptive? Make a habit of closing the eyes for at least 5 minutes several times a day; combine this with silence.

The lower half of the stomach and small intestine: when you eat, do you digest food well, or do you have trouble digesting? Is your elimination regular and easy (every morning and up to 3 times a day)? *

The liver: The liver can become overheated when digestion and elimination are disturbed, causing inflammation in the body.

The Skin: When balanced, Pitta dosha causes a beautiful pinkish glow to the skin. When unbalanced skin becomes red, and rashes develop

Specific parts of the body associated with Scorpio: Sex Organs

Caring For Scorpio and the Sex Organs: The body tissue associated with the sex organs is Shukra. The function of Shukra is to sustain creativity and provide stamina. This is where the ability to manifest all art forms comes into play. When unbalanced, there is a loss of creativity and either a loss of sexual desire or an excessive sexual desire. Keeping the Shukra Dhatu healthy is crucial and closely related to maintaining what is known as Ojas in Ayurveda. Ojas is related to strength, stamina, immunity, and life force in the body and mind. One will enjoy good health, vitality, and sex when Ojas is balanced. The Ayurvedic way of understanding sex is to recognize the need for balancing the masculine and feminine, which is very misunderstood in the modern world. To take the bias off this concept, Ayurveda uses a different word for sex, Mithuna (the merging of male and female energy) which then creates Samadhi, the state of pure love that is beyond sex.

Scorpio is the sign where we come into contact with our most profound passion; and have the opportunity to master our life force, going beyond sex and transforming it into cosmic consciousness; balanced Scorpio sees sex as something to be revered, enjoyed, and carefully considered, knowing not to engage when feeling depleted. When Ojas is unbalanced, health becomes compromised in the body and mind; in Scorpio, energy becomes stuck at the base of the spine, manifesting as preoccupation with sex. This depletes life force, causing them to age more quickly than necessary. Severe depletion of Ojas can lead to physical death. This is significant to Scorpio because two of the three most depleting activities to Ojas include too much sexual activity and trauma, which are directly connected to Scorpio; the 8th sign of the zodiac and 8th house is related to trauma and death. This clearly shows the need for great care with Ojas for Scorpio people. Death is a form of transformation; sometimes, the physical body is abandoned, and sometimes we transform our lives. Scorpios can use their trauma to transform their life.

Recommendations for achieving Mithuna and Samadhi:

Sitting in silence, pay attention to your breath. Notice which nostril is dominant. The right side of the brain is female, and the left side is male. If the right nostril is most clear, the brain's left (male) side is more active. The right (female) side is more active if the left nostril is clear. You will notice the difference in your thinking and actions. Right brain activation causes our thoughts and actions to be oriented around creating love, compassion, poetry, and all forms of art. Left brain activation gives us the ability to focus on logistics and calculations so that we can make a plan of action. Both are needed, and on any given day, you can check in with your breath for confirmation of which is dominant and schedule your day around those things. The secret to magnetism is found in the merging of the two sides of the brain, which creates the magnetism that activates the purest love and draws the sexual experience to you in a holistic way that does not always involve the sexual act but can. At this point, sex is whatever comes up for you, from watching the sunset alone to creating art or being with someone in the sex act or not. The sex act is just one form of sex; many other creations happen when magnetism activates love, which is why you see *Create! throughout this immersion.

One way to merge the right and left brain is the practice of Anuloma- Vilomana (alternate nostril pranayama). Sit with your spine straight on a chair with the soles of the feet touching the floor or on the floor in a cross-legged position place the right thumb on the right nostril and the ring finger on the left nostril; this is the right hand if you're left-handed it would be the opposite you would put the left thumb on the left nostril and ring finger of the left hand onto the right. Inhalation begins on the left side, followed by exhalation on the right side. To start, close the right nostril with the thumb and inhale through the left nostril, release the right nostril close the left nostril with the ring finger, exhale through the right nostril, inhale through the right nostril, then close the right nostril and exhale through the left nostril, inhale through the left nostril close the left nostril exhale through the right and so on. Daily use of the neti-pot is highly recommended to keep the channels of breath clear.

If you are a beginner, practice this daily for 2 minutes, gradually increasing the time; as your inner instructions activate, you will hear and feel the transformation. If you are an experienced yogi, you already know how to tap into this. Just noticing how this feels in your body and being aware of Mithuna & Samadhi interacting with your innate wisdom. Once you make the connection you might decide you don’t need the breathing practice, sitting in silence will be enough. This is just a guideline, never a replacement for following your own wisdom.

General daily care for all: If you are not already doing this, add to your routine Eye washing, Tongue Scraping, Neti, and Abhyanga. This will clear your head out to allow you to see more clearly with your physical and non-physical eyes. In addition, food will taste better, you will have a fresher feeling mouth, and breathe better, which is everything. Finally, Abhyanga is an entire body treatment that envelops you in love and nourishment while beautifying and fortifying your skin. I will be expanding on this soon.

Places: Places where water is abundant can evoke a sanctuary feeling. Such sites are good for you to spend time listening to the water. Consider having bathtubs, pools, and water features in the home; if you cannot have them at home, find a home-like place with them and visit them often. Live near a pond and/or have a well on your property, preferably surrounded by forest. When balanced, water sounds are very soothing and peaceful. When feeling unbalanced, Take a vigorous swim or hike near waterfalls. If you are homebound, listen to a thunderstorm while walking on your treadmill. Have a natural fireplace in your home or outdoors on your property, or go places where you can observe fire. Add candles to your home.

Color: translucent Oranges from pastel to deep, almost red, with flashes of blue and green, the colors of fire. Explore all the nuances of this color and how you feel in their presence. Earthy hues of still water. The color of ice on a pond. All the colors of water.

Essential Oils: Bergamot, Lavender, Geranium, Frankincense, Jasmine, Mint, Blue or Gold Chamomile, rose, Cardamom. Grab one or more of these gorgeous aromas and use them to scent yourself and your home.

Herbs: This experiential course focuses on nourishing the body's deepest tissues, where the center of creativity lives. The three-body systems we are working with are the Nervous, Digestive and Reproductive; from these, I have selected a few Sattvic herbs to enhance your experience. These are generally safe herbs; however, please do your own research to determine if they are right for you. The first herb I would like to highlight is a beautiful mind tonic called Brahmi. Gently stimulating and soothing all at once; with Brahmi, you can direct your mind in a very effective beneficial way bringing focus while at the same time not becoming overstimulated, so it's an exquisite balancer and the ultimate way to bring balance to people of all constitutions. Ashwagandha is an aphrodisiac, an adaptogen, and a rejuvenative; it increases Ojas, improves sleep, and supports you in your artistic expression. Shatavari is an aphrodisiac that increases strength, rejuvenates the reproductive system, soothes the mind, and allows you to tap into your creation system. Another of my favorites for Scorpio is the digestive combination called Trikatu; perfect for sluggish digestion, a common imbalance for Scorpio because of Kapha in the digestive tract; however, Trikatu is heating, so be mindful of aggravating the Pitta in the lower digestive tract, which could show up as hot loose stools, or it could be dehydrating causing constipation.*

Foods: As a Scorpio Ascendant, your digestive system combines Kapha and Pitta. It is essential to keep your diet light most of the time. Satisfy your sweet tooth with fruits. Overindulgence in sugary treats will cause an imbalance in the body and mind. A 70/30 approach would suit you well. 70 percent of the time, go for a light seasonal diet low in fat and grains with lots of vegetables and fruits; 30 percent of the time, indulge in healthy fats, grains, and sweets. You must keep your body and mind balanced to enjoy eating your favorite things without guilt. If you approach this with a healthy attitude and cultivate eating habits that are genuinely nourishing, you will avoid the pitfalls of overindulgence in foods that leave you undernourished and overweight. I highly recommend following the Ayurvedic food guidelines and avoiding the diet trap as long as you are in good health. True alchemy happens in your body when you feel nourished on every level of your being; this includes food and nourishment from love which connects you with your dharma to make your life a work of art. If your digestion becomes unbalanced, you may notice heartburn, sluggish digestion, and nausea, leading to water retention and eventually affecting elimination. You can use a Kapha/Pitta pacifying diet.

Spices: A few of many; Anise, Black Pepper, Cardamon, Cloves, Coriander, Cumin, Cinnamon, Mint, Mustard Seed, Nutmeg, Orange peel, Oregano, Parsley, Rosemary, Saffron, Sage, Thyme, Turmeric, Vanilla.*

Movement: Move your body to honor both the need to relax and the need to sweat. Do aerobic activities in the morning before 10:00. Do restorative yoga or other relaxing movements in the afternoon or evening hours. You will thrive on actions with a spiritual connection, such as a walk in the forest. If you are working out in a place with a lot of activity, put in your earbuds and listen to high-frequency music.
